First 'Camping' Trip

Okay, I used quotations for camping because, well, we didn't stay overnight. Just had some friends that were camping and we went up for the evening to roast hot dogs, marshmallows, and let the kids wander in the wilderness. Fun had by all, including baby girl that got her first taste of some fine quality dirt.

Birthday Celebration

We had a great celebration for Mario & Luigi's birthday. We let them each choose an activity. Mario chose to go to the Castle Casino (Excalibur) and Luigi chose CEC (Chuck E. Cheese). Fun Fun Fun! We ate at Sweet Tomatoes between the two activities. All that the Saturday b/f their bday. Then the day OF, they each got to take cookies to their class, and I baked two different cakes as well.
They blew out candles to make it official and got to open their presents. Star Wars shirts all around, a couple of new games for their Leapsters, Star Wars underwear, new trainers, Dr. Seuss stuff, and their very own pencil sharpeners. Their birthday is the anniversary of the first moon walk in 1969. Our neighbor friend also gave them a space-themed bedroom set. Which included a couple of decor pillows with "One small step for man, One giant leap for mankind". How cool is that??

Flashback

Just ran across some old pics of Mario & Luigi--Look at my babies!!

These pictures range from 9 to 11 months. Chunk-a-chunk-a-love! How did I manage to carry them both around at the same time? I just did. Love my boys! I am so grateful for them. I can NOT believe they are almost 6 years old--this month! I have enjoyed every stage.

LEGOLAND!!

Well, we did it!! Mario and Luigi have finally visited their first amusement park--LEGOLAND. We went last week (June 2-5th). We stayed at a hotel in Carlsbad. The boys had a great time swimming in the cold pool and the warm pool. We also enjoyed eating at Ruby's on the Pier in Oceanside, and World Famous (daddy's favorite) in Pacific Beach. Mario and Luigi got to help fisherman on the pier in Oceanside--reel in in the fish and actually put them in the bucket. They played in the waves in Pacific Beach--cold, cold water didn't seem to bother them. Baby girl just hung out on the neatsheet in her long sleeves and pants. We were even able to go pick strawberries there in Carlsbad which the boys loved. Fun, fun, family vacation. Really our first one. It was made more enjoyable due to the fact that we have a 'new' van that we bought. They boys have dubbed it Rocket. It's a 1997 white mini van that is just perfect for our family.

Here are some of the pics and a little video of the boys singing their new favorite song.

a few funnies...

Cinco de Mayo--made Fajitas for dinner
Daddy--Mom made fajitas b/c they're kinda like Mexican food.
Me--they ARE Mexican food
Mario--Dad, are you talkin' trash?

Mario--Mom, does salad grow?
Me--uh, yeah it grows, but not on a tree.
Mario--yeah, and it doesn't grow in bags either, right?

Mario was hitting himself trying to make baby girl laugh.
Me--Stop, that's not kind to your body.
Mario--But it's kind to flies???

Eating boiled eggs for breakfast.
Luigi--I don't like boiled eggs.
Mario--I do. I like boiled yolks, but I don't like slobbery yolks.

Been teaching boys about tablespoon vs. teaspoon. Luigi grabbed a fork out of the drawer--Mom, is this a table fork?

Telling Daddy & boys to turn off video games for the night to get ready for bed. Daddy kept playing.
I told them again and said--Remember Daddy E-X-A-M-P-L-E.
Luigi said--yeah Dad, C-T-R.

Made the boys practice sitting still for 5 minutes. (hard time at church lately)
Mario says--But Mom, what if I toot?

Morning of daddy's birthday, wrapping his present. Mario wants to actually fold the paper AND put the tape on.
Me--Okay, but do your best.
Mario--I will do my best because I'm brave and a little bit silly.

Me--who wants a ham sandwich for lunch?

Mario--I do, but not with jelly on it or anything.

7 miler

well. It's done. It actually ended up being 6.95 miles. I want to be honest with myself here. It was tough, but I really feel well. I thought I was going to hyperventilate at the end. My friends pulled me through. Thank you!! I was soaking wet from head to toe. The tops of my arms were sweating! It was actually a little humid here in Vegas this morning. go figure.
I would thank the following products for my success today--Brooks running shoes, body glide (no chaffed arms today!), Gatorade, Power Bar gel (strawberry banana), Cliff shot blocks (yuck!), Champion sportswear, and Injinji socks, oh and mother nature for the water afterwards. Thank you.
